are you feeling swept off your beet ...?

I love food. I love cooking, for myself and for those I love. I love eating, taking pics of my food, looking at food other people have cooked. Reading cookbooks, magazines, blogs. Watching cooking programmes. Going to food expos, festivals, restaurants & cafes. I have made my living in kitchens for 3/4 of my life & spent a huge chunk of my life before that in Mums, Grandmas & untold other kitchens. Wherever I go, its only a matter of time before I end up in the kitchen & usually sooner rather than later!! I am food obsessed. in the last couple of years I have been interested in fasting. I am no expert. I have done one 3 day juice fast & a reasonable amount of intermittent fasting (eating within a specified window of time and drinking only water outside that). This is how simple it is from my perspective: our bodies are a self-healing organism. There are many road blocks to that natural healing intelligence, physical toxins, unresolved emotional issues, diet & lifestyle choices. We can bring consciousness to all areas of our lives. The food we eat, the chemicals we use in our homes, the practices we commit to: meditation, yoga & exercise. When the body is in a fasting state it (very) basically breaks down & rebuilds damaged cells. That's why a lot of weird stuff comes out (of everywhere!) when people practice extended fasts. So basically, its so rejuvenating to give the our precious, miraculous bodies a break! I really feel like I have been eating, thinking about food & cooking way to much lately. So today...I am juicing. Feeling re-charged already!
Beetroot juice
3 medium beetroots
1kg carrots
500g green apples
500g red apples
4 medium sized lemons
10cm piece of fresh ginger (I love it spicy)J

Carrot & Orange juice
1kg carrots
2kg oranges
4 medium sized lemons
500g red apples
2 red capsicums (I happened to have them in the fridge & needed to use them up, they add a delicious sweet complexity to the juice)
5cm piece of fresh ginger (optional, again ... I love it spicy!)

Green Juice
500g green apples
1/2 bunch of celery
4 medium sized lemons
1kg lebanese cucumbers
1 bunch of kale
1 bunch of bok choy (I had a bunch that I wanted to use up & it was lovely in the juice!)
1 bunch of mint
5cm piece of fresh ginger
Juice & enjoy
